From upstate New York to the far reaches of Long Island, it's become common to see solar on homes throughout the Empire state. And now, a new installation technique pioneered by SunPower Elite dealer Green Logic, is making it more common to not see solar.

A recent project illustrates this technique on a historic coastal home that was being remodeled in Southampton. Green Logic's Paul Kessler explains: "We came up with a way to build solar directly into the roof of the home. We work with the home builder to create a recess pocket in the building envelope so that the solar is flush with the roof plane."

The town of Southampton's Energy Conservation code calls for homes larger than 3,500 square feet to be optimized for energy efficiency, and homes larger than 6,500 square feet to have solar on the roof or grounds.

Homeowners who want to retain a vintage aesthetic while remodeling are pleasantly surprised to see Green Logic's approach, and even more pleased to see sleek, all-black SunPower^® panels that blend in seamlessly with their roofs.

And because SunPower's high-performance solar panels deliver more energy per square foot than conventional solar panels, Green Logic was able to build a 4.7 kilowatt SunPower Equinox^® system on the smaller footprint of the garage.

For their efforts, Green Logic has been recognized with a regional SunPower Intelegant Award, recognizing exceptionally well-designed and beautifully installed solar projects.
