Southern California Edison (SCE) customers are now eligible to enroll their SunVault™ system in SCE's Power Flex Program—a utility-managed demand response program that enhances energy independence and rewards customers for reducing carbon emissions.
Networking your SunVault™ system with other home storage batteries across the state creates a virtual power plant; a shared supply of clean energy that reduces peak-time costs for everyone. In other words, help stabilize your local grid with excess energy and make $250 in the process.*

Frequently asked questions
What is the Power Flex program and how does it work?
SCE's Power Flex program incentivizes customers who share stored energy with SCE for use when the electric grid needs it.
Customers who enroll in Power Flex receive a one-time $250 payment for their participation in this program. SCE will use (or "dispatch") customer’s stored energy during times of high electricity demand to help meet the grid's power needs. Such dispatch events typically occur anywhere from 50-100 times a year.*
How long does the program last?
The Power Flex program is currently in pilot phase and will last from September 2021 to September 2022. Customers will receive their eGift card in October 2022.
Am I eligible to participate?
If you receive your electricity bill from Southern California Edison and have solar and battery storage, then yes! Exceptions may apply.
Can I still reserve backup energy for a power outage?
SCE will not schedule dispatch events if a wildfire, Public Safety Power Shutoff event (PSPS), or other outage is forecasted in your area.
During scheduled events, SunVault will continue to retain enough battery capacity to match your selected reserve level for unexpected outages. If at any time you want to reserve more battery capacity, you can adjust the setting in your mySunPower mobile app. During non-event days, your battery will operate based on your preferences.
How much should I expect to earn in incentives?
SCE compensates Power Flex customers with a $250 eGift card for participation.
How do I enroll my home battery in Power Flex?
Simply fill out the form above or call your local SunVault™ storage installer for more information.
How do I unenroll from Power Flex?
Simply email VPP@sunpower.com for questions about unenrollment. Alternatively, you can contact your installer for more information.
Will I receive notification before events?
You may not receive notification before all events. As a general rule, customers enrolled should expect an event to be called one to three times a week on most non-holiday weekdays as long as the grid is functioning normally. However, an event won’t be called if there are significant outages due to a storm.
What other incentives can I apply for?
Customers who purchase solar + storage systems may still be eligible for the 26% federal tax credit in 2021 and 2022.*
