California Solar Incentives

Act Now to Lock in Solar Energy Incentives

California is home to the most solar installations in the United States. A combination of incentives and relatively high prices for traditional electricity makes California a very attractive state for large commercial solar energy projects. However, funding allocated to commercial solar incentives in California is beginning to run low.

Contact SunPower today and we will work to lock in remaining CSI incentives foryour commercial solar project before funding for the CSI program is exhausted.

California Solar Initiative (CSI)

The CSI program offers California Performance-Based Incentives (PBI) for systems that are 30 kilowatts and larger. The PBI incentives are based on the amount of solar electricity that your system produces. The incentives began in 2007 at $0.39 per kilowatt hour for taxable entities, and $0.50 per kilowatt hour for government entities and nonprofits. The incentive levels decline as the aggregate capacity of solar installations increases. PBI is paid monthly based on the actual amount of solar energy produced for a period of five years.

The program is managed by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Southern California Edison (SCE), and the California Center for Sustainable Energy.
